<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a burst size of a communication system for performing burst transmission. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for determining the burst size of the communication system for performing burst transmission includes a step in which a transmitter continuously transmits packets of a prescribed size by as many as a prescribed number to the communication system, a step in which a receiver receives the packets from the communication system, and measures the maximum value of the number of the packets continuously received at a time interval that is not higher or lower than a threshold, and a step in which the receiver determines a burst size on the basis of the maximum value and the prescribed size.
