<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail inspection apparatus 100 stably measuring and inspecting the longitudinal bending (vertical displacement and lateral displacement) and the like of a rail R. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A central axis P of a wheel 12 rolling in contact with the side surface of the rail R is inclined toward the travelling direction of the rail inspection apparatus 100. The inclination is directed toward the direction where a downward force acts on the wheel 12, when the wheel 12 rolls in contact with the side surface of the rail R.
