<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance initial charge/discharge efficiency by suppressing an electricity amount necessary for the formation of a coating film. <P>SOLUTION: An initial charging is carried out by a charging process of two steps or more to enhance initial charge/discharge efficiency, and the preparation of an unnecessary material is reduced to attain a higher capacity and the improvement of cycle characteristics without impairing various battery characteristics. For demonstrating the action, a vinylene carbonate or a nonaqueous solvent which can be decomposed at higher potential than the reduction decomposition potential of a main solvent is included in an electrolyte.
