<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compressor including large balance weights having good yield and including rivet holes without blocking refrigerant gas holes of a rotor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rotary compressor includes a compressor casing, a compression part installed at a lower part of the compression casing for sucking refrigerant gas from a low pressure side of a refrigerating cycle via a suction part, and discharging the refrigerant gas from a discharge part to a high pressure side of the refrigerating cycle via the compressor casing, a motor installed at an upper part of the compressor casing for driving the compression part via a rotary shaft, a plurality of the gas holes disposed in an intermittent annular shape on the inner peripheral part of the rotor of the motor for having the refrigerant gas at the lower part of the motor flow to the upper part thereof, and arc-shaped balance weights installed at outer peripheral parts of upper and lower ends of the rotor. The inner edge of the arc-shaped balance weight is positioned further on the outer side than the outer edges of the gas holes, and the outer edge of the arc-shaped balance weight is positioned further on the inner side than the outer edge of the rotor.
