The device (26) has outer clutch plates (10-13), and a clutch plate carrier (14) for connecting the plates in a form-fit and torque-proof manner. A clutch plate supporting unit is provided for supporting one of the cutch plates in an opening direction (16) that is opposite to an operating direction (17). The supporting unit has a supporting element that is formed as a single-piece with the plate carrier, and a clutch plate connection unit connects the clutch lamellas to the carrier, where the connection unit is formed as a single-piece with the supporting unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a multi-plate clutch device.
