The invention relates to the field of electrical engineering. The technical result is the automatic disconnection of a plug from a plug-type socket, either with or without a device for opening the contact slots, when the power cord is tensioned in any direction with a force which is greater than is permissible, which force can be brought about by the power cord being tugged accidentally. When the power cord (2) is tensioned by an accidental tug in any direction, a collar (4), which surrounds the power cord, moves together with the power cord and thereby withdraws a cable (5) from a sleeve (6). The force with which the power cord is tensioned is transferred via the cord to an end piece (7), which starts to move out of the socket (3), thereby displacing a lever (10) for releasing a plug ejector. A catch (11) releases the plug ejector (12). Via a button (13), a spring (14) ejects the plug (1) out of the socket (3). The end piece (7), whilst continuing to move out of the socket (3), is released from engagement with the lever (10). This makes it possible for a spring (19) to open up, and a spring mechanism (15) withdraws the end piece (7) from the socket (3).
