The belt tensioning unit (1) comprises a base part (2), a swiveling arm (4), and a torsion spring (6) which is formed concentrically. The torsion spring is arranged around the rotating axis. A compression spring (7) is provided, which has shanks (8,9) at its both end windings. The shank is formed axially parallel to the rotating axis. The compression spring is adjusted in the openings (10,11) of the swiveling arm and the base part in torque proof manner.
