The heat exchanger has wave-shaped plates (10) arranged in planes parallel to each other and sealed one below the other and outward by a sealing unit such that receiving areas for fluid media are formed between the plates. Heat-delivering medium to be heated flows in the receiving areas between the plates. The receiving areas between the plates are limited by an edge-laterally rotating seal (20), and the plates are placed against the seal. The seal includes a supporting core and a casing, where the supporting core is made of stainless steel, and the casing is made of rubber.
