The aerator has a roofing membrane (22) provided on a roofridge (10), and a sheet-like air passage mechanism (28) provided between the roofing membrane and a thatched roof (16). The air passage mechanism extends with its longitudinal edges (30) along one side and another side of the roofridge of the thatched roof turned away from the former side. The sheet-like air passage mechanism is formed by a bubble wrap having perforation holes, and comprises tube elements extending transverse over the roofridge.
