An optical disc device is provided with: a spherical aberration correcting section (7) which corrects a spherical aberration generated in a light spot on a recording layer; a control unit (52) which focuses an optical beam on a predetermined recording layer and shifts the focusing point position of the optical beam from the current recording layer to other recording layer; and a focus jump control section (60) which controls the correction of the spherical aberration and the shift of the focusing point position, based on the interlayer distance between the current recording layer and a recording layer adjacent to the current recording layer in the direction opposite to the direction wherein the focal point position of the optical beam is shifted. With this configuration, focus jump can be stably performed.
