A control circuit for controlling the lighting of a passive matrix type display panel, in which capacitive light emitting elements represented by organic EL elements are arrayed in a matrix shape, performs controls to execute the scans by scanning drivers either in the order, in which image data to be fed to each data line for each scan is less changed, or in the order of the lighting rate of the image data for each scan. Specifically, the scanning operations are performed sequentially in the order of scanning lines (14, 15, 10, 11, 6, 7, - - -, and so on), in case one scan is made in the order of the lines having the larger blanked pixels to be lit. As a result, the excessive charging/discharging operations for the parasitic capacities of the light emitting elements to occur between the individual scans can be minimized to reduce the power consumption of the display device.
|
