The cage (1) has retaining rods (2) comprising two side pieces (3, 4) that are connected via a bending section (5), where the cage is formed of a strip-shaped pre-cut part by punching and deforming processes. Ends (6, 7) of the side pieces pointing away from the bending section are attached at circular ring shaped rims (8, 9) of the pre-cut part. The side pieces have projection units (13, 14) that point in circumferential direction in an area of longitudinal edges (11, 12), which extend radially inwards. The strip-shaped pre-cut part is made of sheet metal. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a roller bearing cage.
