Joints between metals and ceramic-metal mixtures in which the ceramic component consists of or contains reducible metal oxides or oxygen containing metal compounds, are made by reduction welding which increases the metallic content of the mixture at the joint. Either gas or electric arc welding may be used and in the latter case the voltage used exceeds 60 volts and the parts to be joined may be preheated.
