FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: detected radiation is sent to a photodetector matrix and picked up through a screen which forms a thermal image of the object from which the radiation is detected. The photodetector matrix is cooled to cryogenic temperatures. The screen is heated to temperature which causes an extra stream of quanta from the screen to the photodetector matrix and provides high useful/noise ratio of the photodetector matrix relative the last value in the absence of additional heating, particularly to a maximum value of the useful signal/noise ratio, which corresponds to temperature between 40 and 120 K. ^ EFFECT: higher quality of the image obtained in video systems and possibility of detecting radiation in a spectral range different from the sensitivity range of the photodetector matrix. ^ 4 cl, 5 dwg, 7 ex |
