<p>PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for automatically controlling a parking brake are provided to enable a vehicle to be moved due to the non-operation of a parking brake if a man applies the force on a specific part of a vehicle and to enable the parking brake to be operated if the force is not applied. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically controlling a parking brake comprises a parking brake(22), a drive unit(16), a brake button(12), an ESP module, a temperature sensor(48), a pressure sensor(50), and a controller(14). The drive unit mechanically drives the parking brake. The brake button is presses by a driver to operate the parking brake. The ESP module is electrically connected to the parking brake, the drive unit, and the brake button. The temperature sensor senses the temperature from the specific part of the outside of the vehicle and the pressure sensor senses the pressure from the specific part of the outside of the vehicle. The controller is connected to the ESP module, the temperature sensor, and the pressure sensor. In the state the parking brake operates, the controller disables the parking brake if the values sensed by the temperature sensor and the pressure sensor are over given values.</p> |
