PURPOSE: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to prevent the pressure on a step portion when a wound electrode assembly inside the battery swells up repeatedly during a charging process. CONSTITUTION: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises the following: a wound electrode assembly(14E) including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate(12) wound to the assembly around a separator(13); a cylindrical battery outer can receiving the wound electrode assembly; a negative electrode core body(12c) without a negative active material mixture layer(12b), located on the outermost circumference of the negative electrode plate; and a negative electrode tab(12a) connected to the negative electrode core body.
