PURPOSE: A display device and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce a quantity of an image and conveniently process and display an image. CONSTITUTION: A display device has a display unit(20). An image receiving unit(10) receives an image from an image source. A control unit(50) controls an image processing unit(30) to enable a cut image to be scaled by corresponding to resolution of the display unit. The image processing unit cuts width part of the image if received image is a width image.
