USAGE OF SOLUBLE CD14 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES

PURPOSE: A soluble CD14 which is overexpressed in neurodegenerative diseases is provided to diagnose and treat neurodegenerative diseases. CONSTITUTION: A composition for diagnosing neurodegenerative diseases contains an agent for measuring soluble CD14 mRNA or protein. Neurodegenerative diseases are Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, Huntington's disease, or senile dementia. The agent for measuring mRNA level is a primer pair or probe which is specific to CD14 gene. The agent for measuring protein is an antibody which is specific to CD14 gene. The diagnosis for neurodegenerative diseases is performed by measuring protein level of a gene in a biological sample using the specific antibody. The biological sample is cerebrospinal fluid. A pharmaceutical composition for treating neurodegenerative diseases contains soluble CD14.
