The method involves deactivating a direction indicator based on a given deactivation request. A given displacement assistance function of the vehicle drive inhibition of the deactivation is activated. The given deactivation request is transmitted to mechanical actuators, and a deactivation command is sent to the direction indicator. The vehicle drive inhibition is provoked by reception of an activation message of the assistance function.
