<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture stream decoding apparatus in which, when decoding a plurality of moving picture streams within a fixed time using one decoding apparatus, while taking into account playback quality, playback is not delayed even if temporary throughput is congested. <P>SOLUTION: The moving picture stream decoding apparatus comprises: an input extraction section for extracting and inputting a processing unit of encoded data with respect to the moving picture stream to be processed; a feature amount acquisition section for acquiring a feature amount of the extracted processing unit; a decoding processing section for decoding the extracted processing unit according to any one scheme of a normal process and a plurality of simple processes; and a processing time estimation section for calculating an estimate of a decoding processing time of the processing unit according to the normal process based on the feature amount. In the case where the decoding processing time estimated by the processing time estimation section is within an allowable processing time assigned for each of a plurality of processing units, the normal process is selected for the decoding processing scheme for processing the processing unit and in the other case, the simple processes capable of processing the processing unit within the allowable processing time is selected for the decoding processing scheme for processing the processing unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
