[Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] A tubular conductor is made by longitudinally folding a tape 1 having smooth margins 4, 5 and transverse corrugations 2, 3, some or all of which terminate in a portion perpendicular to the plane of the tape, the planes of the margins being displaced relatively to each other by at'least the thickness of the tape. When the tape is folded to tubular form the smooth edges overlap each other and abut against the stops formed by the perpendicular terminations of the corrugations. The tube is supported externally by a lapped on tape, and may be used as a conductive screen or as the external conductor of a coaxial cable. |
