The device has two outputs for connecting high frequency (HF) surgical instruments (20-23) e.g. monopolar instruments, to expose the surgical instruments to treatment currents. A separate HF-generator is provided for each surgical instrument. A single neutral electrode arrangement is provided for the surgical instruments and HF generators (10-13). A changeover device (30) has a control connection to the HF generators such that the HF generators do not simultaneously generate the treatment currents and output the currents to the surgical instruments. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a high frequency surgery device.
