<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing microparticles that can attain a properly defined narrow size-distribution of microparticles containing a biologically or pharmaceutically active agent and enlarge precisely and reliably a batch-size from a laboratory scale to a commercial scale. <P>SOLUTION: The method for preparing microparticles includes: preparing a first phase, which is a solution containing a solvent, the biologically active agent and a polymer; preparing a second phase, wherein the first phase and the second phase are substantially nonmiscible; preparing a quench liquid; and pumping the first phase and the second phase through a static mixer into the quench liquid to extract the solvent and to form the microparticles containing the active agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
