<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for providing reliable motion vectors. <P>SOLUTION: The method for providing reliable motion vectors includes the steps of: determining (S1, S2) motion vectors (66, 67) between two image frames (61, 62) with backward and forward estimation; comparing (S3) backward estimation motion vectors and forward estimation motion vectors; and detecting (S4) unreliable motion vectors (67) on the basis of the comparison result.
