<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a sufficient grain size segregation to a sintering material layer charged to a pallet, to prevent the sintering material from attaching and accumulating on a chute to charge the sintering material into the pallet, and to smoothly charge the sintering material, in a material charging device of a sintering machine for charging the sintering material cut out from a hopper through a roll feeder to the pallet in a state of sliding on the inclined charging chute. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An auxiliary plate 12 having an angle to a horizontal face, smaller than that of the charging chute 11 is moved forward and backward by a cylinder 21 in a state of being kept in contact with a lower end of the charging chute, the sintering material from the auxiliary plate 12 is dispersed to the advancing direction of the pallet, and the sintering material attaching and accumulating on the auxiliary plate is scraped off and removed through the charging chute 11.
