<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic switch having a structure having a return spring 19 disposed at an outside of a plunger 12, lightening the plunger 12 in weight, and suppressing vibration of the plunger 12. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A cup washer supporting each end of a return spring 19 and a drive spring 22 is fixed on a plunger end surface 12a. A first spring support part 20a supporting one end of the return spring 19 of the cup washer is not disposed on same plane as the plunger end surface 12a but is disposed on a section biased to an axial direction anti-plunger side by length of an extension part 20d from the plunger end surface 12a. Consequently, length of plunger projection is shortened, weight of the plunger 12 is reduced, and vibration of the plunger 12 is reduced since projection length of the plunger 12 projecting from a case end surface to the axial direction is set without depending on length of the return spring 19.
