<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventionally used method, wherein a pattern is formed by rolling a roller having the pattern on the outer peripheral surface over a coated surface, has restrictions on a releasing agent available and usage of the releasing agent, has difficulty to form a delicate pattern, and affects worker's health. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a method where a coating agent is applied over the surface of the coated substrate of a building material or a building, a silicone-based releasing agent is sprayed onto the coating agent before the coating agent is dried, and then the roller having the pattern on the outer peripheral surface is rolled over the coating agent to form the pattern on the coating agent, so as to form the delicate pattern without affecting the worker's health.
