PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output favorable image data at a high speed while reducing the number of optical sources. SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus 100 has: an optical source 101 for radiating a light beam so that the image data are drawn based on the input image data; a half-mirror prism 103 for dividing the radiated light beam into a plurality of light beams; a rotatable polygonal mirror 104 for reflecting the divided light beams at different angles, respectively; mirrors 109 and scanning lenses 110a and 110b for guiding one of the plurality of reflected light beams to a surface to be scanned based on the rotation state of the polygonal mirror 104; a switch signal generating unit 714 for generating a switch signal for switching the color of the output image data based on the difference in the angle of the rotation direction of the polygonal mirror 104; and a memory read control unit 722 for switching the image data of the colors outputted to the light source 101 based on the generated switch signal.
