PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a connector as a whole, in a lever type one. SOLUTION: In the lever type connector wherein a female housing 30 can be fitted into and separated from a male housing 10 in connection with a turning operation of a lever 50, the lever type connector comprises a pair of cam pins 32, 33 arranged on the female housing 30, a first gear 51 rotatably mounted in the male housing 10 and rotating in connection with the turning operation of the lever 50 and having a first cam groove 54 capable of engaging with the first cam pin 32, and a second gear 61 rotatably mounted in the male housing 10 and rotating in connection with rotation of the first gear 51 and having a second cam groove 64 capable of engaging with the second cam pin 33. Interference between a front wall 11A of a storage space 11 and opposed teeth 52A, 62A facing each other in a front-and-rear direction during the fitting of both the housings 10, 30 in both the gears 51, 61 can be avoided as a part of opposed teeth 52A, 62A is cut off.
