<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HB-type stepping motor that avoids a drop in torque to thereby improve the efficiency of the motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The HB-type stepping motor includes a rotor 1 in which magnetic poles 3 are formed so that magnetic poles adjoining each other in a rotational direction may be polarized reversely to each other and a stator 2 which is formed at equal angles in a rotational direction has a plurality of teeth 6 which are formed at equal angles in a rotational direction and on which winding is wound. Small magnetic poles 3a and 4a are formed at equal pitches in a rotational direction on the periphery, which face the inner perimetrical faces of teeth 6 in the magnetic poles 3, and on the inner perimetrical faces, which face the magnetic poles 3 in the teeth 6, respectively. The pitch of the small magnetic poles 3a and 4a created at the magnetic poles 3 and 4 and the pitch of the small magnetic poles 6a created at the teeth 6 are the same. Between the magnetic poles 3 and 4 adjoining each other in a rotational direction, the pitch between the small magnetic pole created in one magnetic pole 3 and the small magnetic pole created in the other magnetic pole 4 is different from the pitch of the small magnetic poles created in the magnetic pole 3 or 4.
