摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To two-dimensionally control the surface brightness of surface light radiated to a liquid crystal display panel from a backlight unit employing a light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a liquid crystal display device constituted so that a plurality of pairs of light source unit groups and light guide plates for transmitting light from the light source unit groups are laminated, and the plurality of light guide plates are different in areas from which the transmitted light is emitted toward a liquid crystal display. A light source unit group paired with one of the plurality of light guide plates has two or more light source units of which the quantities of light are controlled independently, and the light guide plate paired with the light source unit group having the two or more light source units has the number of the areas which is equal to or larger than the number of light source units, and light emitted from each of these areas is mainly light from one of the two or more light source units, and the quantities of light of the two or more light source units are controlled independently. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
