A polyfluoroalkylphosphonic acid represented by general formula: CnF2n+1(CH2CF2)a(CF2CF2)b(CH2CH2)cP(O)(OH)2 [wherein n represents an integer of 1 to 6; a represents an integer of 1 to 4; b represents an integer of 1 to 3; and c represents an integer of 1 to 3], which is a compound having perfluoroalkyl group(s) carrying 6 or less carbon atoms that is considered as having a low bioaccumulation potential and being usable as the active ingredient of a mold-releasing agent, or a salt of the same. This polyfluoroalkylphosphonic acid is produced by hydrolyzing a polyfluoroalkylphosphonic acid diester represented by general formula: CnF2n+1(CH2CF2)a(CF2CF2)b(CH2CH2)cP(O)(OR)2 [wherein R represents an alkyl group carrying 1 to 4 carbon atoms; n represents an integer of 1 to 6; a represents an integer of 1 to 4; b represents an integer of 1 to 3; and c represents an integer of 1 to 3].
