The supercharged internal combustion engine has an intake line for supplying the internal combustion engine with combustion air and a compressor (1) arranged in the intake line. The compressor has an impeller (4) which is mounted on a rotatable shaft. The compressor has housing (2), in which the impeller is arranged. The compressor is provided with a liquid cooling unit (8), and the housing has an integrated coolant jacket (7,7a). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a supercharged internal combustion engine.
