摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus which is small-sized and has a deep depth of focus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image forming optical system 1 constituting an image reading apparatus has a plurality of cells or the like of optical systems disposed respectively and independently in a main scanning direction 211, and two columns of the cells are arrayed in a sub scanning direction 212. Each cell comprises: a first bending mirror 111; a first reflection type light focus optical element 100; an aperture 101; and a second reflection type light focus optical element 102. The components of each cell are disposed in the order from a document 7, and a telecentric optical system is formed on the side of the document. Further, a distance S1, in the sub scanning direction from a reading center position on a document surface to the first reflection type light focus optical element, is approximately coincident with a distance S2, in the sub scanning direction from the reading center position to the second reflection type light focus optical element.
