<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate making method of a screen printing plate which uses a thermal stencil paper, not only excels in plate wear, but also gives good image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The plate making method at least includes: a thermal plate making process in which a thermoplastic resin film of a thermal stencil paper which includes laminating a thermoplastic resin film 1 to a porous support 2 is heated selectively to form an opening 10 corresponding to an image; a curable resin coating process in which a liquefied curable resin is applied to a porous support side of a thermal stencil paper to make the porous support impregnate the resin; a permutation process in which pressing is carried out while applying a liquefied nonhardening fluid on the curable resin applied by the curable resin coating process to permute the curable resin located in the opening of the thermoplastic resin film of the engraved thermal stencil paper with the nonhardening fluid; and a curing process which stiffens the curable resin which remains at the non-opening of the thermal stencil paper obtained at the permutation process, and further may include a washing process which cleans the thermal stencil paper obtained at the curing process.
