671,541. Gas-producers. HUBMANN, O. Oct. 17, 1950 [Oct. 24, 1949], No. 25310/60. Classes 51 (i), 51 (ii) and 55 (i). A gas producer, especially for use on vehicles, comprises a revolving grate in the lower part of the producer and a container for fresh fuel in the upper part thereof, a water cooled column which traverses the fuel bed fixedly connecting the container and grate and a common drive being provided so that they both revolve together. In the form shown the apparatus, which gasifies fuels such as coal or coke at pressures from 1¢ to 30 atmospheres by means of air or oxygen-enriched air together with steam, comprises a casing 1 provided with a water jacket 2 and having in its lower part a grate 3 and in the upper part, a container 4, the fuel bed 5 being disposed therebetween. The grate and container are rigidly connected to a hollow, axial shaft 8 rotatably mounted in bearings 9 and 10, a drive 13 engaging the container rim to revolve the assembly. The column 8 is cooled by water admitted at 14, hot water or steam escaping at 15. The fuel is fed to container 4 from a hopper 6 and passes through slots in the container base into the fuel bed, rakes 22 being provided under the container to loosen the surface of the bed. Air is admitted through pipe 16, the generated gas discharging through pipe 12, whilst ash is removed from the bottom of the bed by discharge members 18 which feed the ash into a lock chamber 7. |
