<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of image quality without causing displacement of an image even when an excitation mode of a motor is changed between a constant speed movement state and an accelerated/decelerated movement state, in an image reader for performing an intermittent image reading operation. <P>SOLUTION: This image reader for controlling intermittent imaging reading by moving a reading optical system or a read document using a motor having a plurality of excitation modes different in a rotation angle per step is equipped with: a means to change the excitation mode of the motor in response to each of an acceleration movement period, a constant speed movement period and a deceleration movement period; a means to calculate the number of pulses of motor control with respect to a moving distance in response to the excitation mode; and a means to correct displacement due to magnetic pole jump occurring in changing the excitation mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
