<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplexing optical communication apparatus accurately setting an optimum dispersion compensation value for compensating the waveform of an optical signal inputted from a transmission path, and reducing a setting time. <P>SOLUTION: A signal processing circuit 7 determines, as a dispersion compensation value, a dispersion value at which the error rate of an optical signal of an already mounted wavelength channel is minimized. A record calculation circuit 8 creates a dispersion value map of the already mounted wavelength channel, based on the dispersion compensation value transmitted from the signal processing circuit 7. The record calculation circuit 8 updates the dispersion value map, based on a dispersion compensation value of a newly added wavelength channel, estimates a dispersion compensation value of the added wavelength channel, based on the updated dispersion value map, and sets an optimum dispersion compensation value by performing scanning by using the estimated dispersion compensation value as an initial value. A dispersion compensator 5 compensates waveform degradation of an optical signal with the waveform deformed in a transmission path 3, based on the optimum dispersion compensation value, and transmits the optical signal with the dispersion compensated to an optical signal receiver 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
