<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a laser clad valve seat free from cracks or the like by performing metallic powder supply and laser irradiation with proper timing. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of forming a laser clad valve seat, metallic powder 4 is supplied to the valve seat forming part 2 of a cast cylinder head 1, with laser hv emitted thereto, and then the cylinder head 1 is rotated, with the metallic powder 4 melted by the laser hv for padding. Before the irradiation of the laser hv, preliminary supply is performed to supply the metallic powder 4.
