<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for reproducing video and audio, changing a reproducing speed for video and a reproducing speed for audio independently of each other, and controlling the reproducing speeds near to a section in which the video and audio should better be played back at an equal speed so that the sense of incongruity of the user can be smaller than in equal-speed reproduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This apparatus includes: dividing content into a video signal and an audio signal; demodulating the separated video signal; demodulating the separated audio signal; setting a reproducing speed of the demodulated video signal; setting a reproducing speed for the demodulated audio signal; and outputting the audio signal having the set reproducing speed and the audio signal having the set reproducing speed.
