PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system which efficiently synchronizes the states of apparatuses. SOLUTION: The monitoring system includes a network apparatus that updates management information on the basis of an event, transmits an event notification including event information and a sequence number, stores information on the event notification with a storage period or a maximum limit set thereto in a storage unit, checks whether the event notification corresponding to the sequence number is stored or not when receiving an event notification request message including the sequence number, and transmits the event notification to the request source if it is stored, and reads and transmits the management information to the request source if it is not stored; and a monitoring apparatus that stores the monitoring information for each network apparatus, checks whether the sequence numbers are consecutive, when receiving the event notification from the network apparatus, and transmits the event notification request message to the network apparatus for the unreceived event notification if they are not consecutive, and updates the monitoring information on the basis of the received event notification, if they are consecutive.
