<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses power consumption from a time before a printing operation starts. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a liquid crystal display means which, in order to determine whether print data received from a host computer are normal print data or not, analyzes the received print data and displays the condition of the image forming apparatus by using a character or an image; and a light irradiation means which irradiates the liquid crystal display means with light.
