Diazonium salts are coupled with 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydro-naphtholsulphonic acids, e.g. diazotized p-nitraniline with 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydro-2-naphthol-3-sulphonic acid.ALSO:Arylamides and aryl esters of 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydro - 2 - diazonaphthol - (1) - ar - sulphonic acids and 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydro-1-diazonaphthol - (2) - ar - sulphonic acids are made as follows: 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydronaphtholsulphonic acids are coupled with diazonium salts and the resulting azo dyes reduced to tetrahydro-aminonaphtholsulphonic acids; the latter are either diazotized, converted into sulphochlorides and reacted with arylamines or phenols, or converted by means of phosgene into tetrahydro-naphthoxazolone-sulphonic acids, and thence via the sulphochlorides into sulphonarylamides; the oxazolone ring is then opened with alkali and the tetrahydroaminonaphthol - sulphonarylamides diazotized. Examples show the preparation of the following: (1) 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1 - amino - 2-naphthol-3-sulphonic acid, 4 : 5 : 6 : 7-tetrahydro - naphthoxazolone - 9 - sulphonic acid, 9-sulphochloride and 9-N-ethyl-sulphonanilide, 5 - 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1 - amino - 2 - naphthol - 3 - (N - ethyl - sulphonanilide) and diazo compound; (2) 4 : 5 : 6 : 7 - tetrahydronaphthoxazolone - 9 - (N : N - diphenylsulphonamide), 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1-amino - 2 - naphthol - 3 - (N : N - diphenylsulphonamide) and diazo compound; (3) bisamide from 4 : 5 : 6 : 7-tetrahydro-naphthoxazolone - 9 - sulphochloride and 2 : 5 : 21 : 51-tetraethoxy - 4 : 41 - diamino - triphenylmethane, N : N1 - di - (5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1 - amino - 2 - naphthol - 3 - sulphonyl)-2 : 5 : 21 : 51 - tetraethoxy - 4 : 41 - diamino triphenylmethane and bis-diazo compound; N : N1 - di - (5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1-amino - 2 - naphthol - 3 - sulphonyl) - benzidine; (4) 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 1 - diazo - 2-naphthol-3-sulphonic acid, -sulphochloride and bis-esters with 4 : 41-dihydroxydiphenyl and 4 : 41 - dihydroxy - diphenylsulphone; (5) 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 2 - amino - 1 - naphthol-4-sulphonic acid (by catalytic reduction of 2 - nitro compound), 6 : 7 : 8 : 9 - tetrahydronaphthoxazolone - 5 - sulphonic acid, 5 - sulphochloride and 5 - (N - ethyl - sulphonanilide), 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - tetrahydro - 2 - amino - 1 - naphthol - 4 - (N - ethyl - sulphonanilide) and diazo compound; (6) 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrahydro-2 - diazo - 1 - naphthol - 4 - sulphonic acid, 4-sulphochloride and ester with 4-hydroxyphenyl; (7) as in (6) forming the bis-ester with 4 : 41-dihydroxydiphenyl. |
