PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which performs photographing corresponding to the ratio of an area occupied by a moving object image within an imaging area. SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes: an imaging element for outputting image signals for which the moving object image is captured; an analysis part for calculating the moving direction of the object image on the basis of the image signals; a rear end determination part for determining whether or not a rear end to the moving direction of the moving object image is captured inside the imaging area of the imaging element; and a photographing control part for making the timing of photographing the object image be different corresponding to the determined result of the rear end determination part.
