PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cup type beverage vending machine capable of sufficiently securing merchandise characteristics of transparency. SOLUTION: The cup type beverage vending machine includes: a cup carrier for carrying a cup from a supply position to a preparation position; a hot water tank for storing hot water; a hot water pipe, connected to the hot water tank, for dispensing hot water to the cup carried to the preparation position; and a paddle, provided in a freely rising/lowering and rotating manner in the preparation position, for lowering to the cup carried to the preparation position to stir beverage when beverage including powder raw material is prepared. The machine starts cleaning the paddle by lowering the paddle before carrying the cup to the preparation position when beverage including powder raw material is prepared and releasing the hot water pipe, and then finishes cleaning the paddle by closing the hot water pipe and raising the paddle.
