<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance in detecting object tissues comprising linear structure on a three-dimensional image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The main axis direction of a candidate object tissue comprising linear structure or the normal direction of a tissue comprising surface structure in a detection range is determined. Based on the main axis direction or the normal direction, a normalization process is performed to a candidate object range including the candidate object tissue. Feature quantities of the candidate object range after the normalization process is performed are computed.
