<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that reflectance falls off and high contrast can not be obtained since coloring insulating liquid exists between particles when the particles holding electric charges are aligned on the display surface by application of voltage to an electrophoretic display device in a electrophoretic type display device having the coloring insulating liquid. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the electrophoretic display device, between a first transparent substrate and a second substrate arranged opposite to each other in parallel, a transparent resin film formation compound (A), at least one or more kinds of transparent liquids (B), and at least one or more kinds of coloring insulating liquids (C) which is not mixed with the transparent liquid (B) are arranged in order from the first transparent substrate toward the second substrate, and one or more kinds of charged particles (D) are dispersed in the transparent liquid (B) and the coloring insulating liquid (C).
