<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an asymmetric system (10G/1G-EPON (Ethernet (R) Passive Optical Network) system) in 10G-EPON. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The EPON system includes: a station-side termination device 12 including a first station-side termination part 12a for transmitting/receiving a signal at a first communication velocity and a second station-side termination part 12b for transmitting/receiving a signal at a second communication velocity; a subscriber-side termination device 14 including a first subscriber-side terminal device 14a, a second subscriber-side termination device 14b and a third subscriber-side termination device 14c; and a photocoupler 16 for connecting the station-side termination device 12 and the subscriber-side termination devices 14 via an optical fiber 18. The first station-side termination part includes a first storage and transmission/reception section 12a6 for storing and transmitting/receiving information on a second downlink signal D2 transmitted by the second station-side termination part, and the second-station-side termination part includes a second storage and transmission/reception section 12b6 for storing and transmitting/receiving information on a first uplink signal U1 transmitted by the first station-side termination part.
