A water purification system for purifying polluted water present in closed water regions including lakes, ponds, and dams, characterized by comprising: an intake pump for pumping up, as raw water to be treated, a bottom sludge deposit together with polluted water; a sand/gravel screening tank in which sand/gravel matters are removed from the raw water pumped up by the intake pump; a stirring tank in which an inorganic powdery flocculant is added to the treated water which has undergone screening in the sand/gravel tank to thereby flocculate fine particles; and a separation tank in which the flocs generated in the stirring tank are separated. The system is further characterized in that the inorganic powdery flocculant includes silicon dioxide and calcium oxide, which account for 10-40 wt.% and 1-45 wt.%, respectively, of the flocculant in a test conducted by glass bead/fluorescent X-ray spectroscopy. According to the water purification system, installation places for facilities necessary for the treatment of polluted water are not restricted. Polluted water can be highly efficiently treated at low cost.
|
