CONTROL SYSTEM FOR THE BIOLOGICAL ELIMINATION OF NITROGEN FROM WASTE WATER THROUGH LOW-COST SENSORS

Control system for the biological elimination of nitrogen from waste water through low-cost sensors. The present invention describes a control system based on fuzzy logic permitting optimisation of the biological elimination of nitrogen in continuous predenitrification-type processes having piston-flow circulation or in complete mix reactors. Should reactors be of complete mix type they are required to have at least two differentiated aerobic zones and two differentiated anoxic zones. In the case of reactors of piston-flow type such differentiation is not necessary within each type of reactor (anoxic and aerobic). This control system is based on the use of low-cost sensors of pH and ORP type.
